Theoretical & Clinical Orientation

Grounded in a humanistic, person-centered philosophy, my practice acknowledges the intricate interplay between personal narratives and broader social, cultural, and systemic contexts. I believe that each individual’s story is deeply connected to the larger structures and environments in which they live, and understanding this connection is crucial for effective and compassionate care. I am deeply committed to trauma-informed principles, recognizing the profound and pervasive impact that systems of oppression, such as racism, sexism, and economic inequality, have on individuals’ experiences of trauma. By integrating this understanding into my practice, I aim to create a safe and supportive space for healing.

My therapeutic approach is rooted in trauma, feminist, multicultural, and systems theories, providing a comprehensive framework that addresses the diverse needs and experiences of my clients. These theories help me to understand and address the ways in which power dynamics, cultural backgrounds, and personal relationships influence mental health and well-being.

Through my work, I strive for liberation by seeking to decolonize healing and dismantle systems of power. This means challenging and changing the traditional power dynamics within therapeutic relationships and the broader mental health system. My goal is to empower clients to reclaim their own narratives and experiences, fostering resilience and strength. By advocating for social justice and equity within the field of mental health, I aim to contribute to a more just and equitable society where all individuals have the opportunity to thrive.
